Bury hosted Ashton-u-Lyne for the Blacksticks Pool final match, with Ashton topping the table on points difference, a only a win would ensure Bury progressed through to the quarter finals of the Lancashire Cup.
Conditions were very good considering the amount of rain we have had, with our U16's choosing to use the 2nd team pitch we were able to play on the 1st team pitch which made it hard work for all the players.
Ashton started the stronger scoring the first try by using the pace of the outside centre. Bury responded well, the Backs starting to dominate especially in defence and when we created space we were able score on the outside, scoring 4 tries, unfortunately we were unable to convert any of them. Ashton scored one more try which they did convert. it was a tense finish, Ashton trying valiantly to score but Bury's defence held firm which resulted in a 20 - 14 victory.
Excellent performance from the whole squad.
MoM went to Josh for a fantastic performance.
