Bury visited Bowdon for the second time of the season and came back from 14-5 down to win 17-14 to maintain their excellent set of results from recent weeks.

Both teams showed excellent handling skills, and play moved from end to end, but Bury cracked first, and when a loose clearing kick went straight to the home winger after a ruck on Bury’s 5m line, the winger was able to exploit the gaps in the defence to dive over in the opposite corner.

Bury hit back with a try from Alex Bolton who again showed excellent pace to beat the defence on the outside to score, but Bury failed to convert the extras.

Bowdon turned round 9 points ahead after a driving maul down the centre of the pitch opened up spaces out wide and some excellent handling allowed Bowden to score in the corner.

Bury were soon back in the game when Alex Bolton took quick ball from the back of a ruck to again outpace the home defence to score in the corner, Xavier Jacques converting.

With 10 minutes to play, Bury took the lead when Josh Banwell peeled away from the back of maul which had made at least 15 metres to drive through the remaining defenders, the conversion again missed.

With a 3 point deficit to defend, Bury fought hard to protect their line, and despite excellent handling from Bowdon, Bury were able to hold on to secure a hard fought win against a well drilled team.

An excellent team performance with lots of great tackling and defensive work. If only we could move the ball out wider sooner, we could make things so much easier on ourselves! Man of the match went to Josh Banwell for his outstanding tackling and driving runs through the centre of the home defence.
