We all headed up the motorway to Lancaster in a coach for today’s match.
The game started off with Bury gaining ground but lost the ball in a poor tackle leading to Vale of Lune scoring the first try of the match. The boys started to up their game but V of L made it difficult for them to breakthrough. The team were tackling most of the time in the first part of the match but never gave up. There were exceptionally good tackles from Zaman and Anna who is never afraid of tackling even the biggest player !!.
Bury’s game improved in the second 3rd of the game with Max having an outstanding run down the wing resulting in the first try of the match and his first of the season. Callum then converted the try putting Bury back into the game.
The boys, as usual, started to put more into the last part of the match with some excellent tackling from Ellis.
Unfortunately the match had to be abandoned due to a V of L player being injured.
Captain :- Mikey
Man of the Match – Max
The team and parents had a good day out despite losing. The boys finished the day off with a good sing !!!
Coaches Note:
A great day out had by all, our first coach trip away, the players and parents alike all seemed to enjoy themselves. To the game, Bury started off slow with a complete lack of desire to win the ball in the loose this resulted in VoL dominating nearly all the possession and our backs having to live off scraps, and with them constantly being out of position, going forward and controlling the game was difficult. After the first break we discussed these matters with the players which resulted in a vast improvement for the rest of the match, we even started to take some kind of control in the final 3rd of the match, that was until it was cut short due to a neck injury to one of the Vale players, thankfully I can report that the player only bruised his neck and is fine.
