After a period of no games due to weather cancellations, Sunday morning was welcomed with a sunny and warm day.
The players seemed keen to get the game underway against a Rossendale team that we lost against at the beginning of the season. We were short of a couple of players so he U12’s kindly offered us two player, Jack & Jed (thank you to both of them).
The game started and it was Bury who soon broke the deadlock with a mazy run from Oscar, after the forwards won quick ball from a ruck in the middle of the pitch. Bury continued to dominate with the forwards finally listening; running straight, backing each other up and rucking all with great determination and team work, this resulted in the backs getting clean quick ball which was used very well, passing down the line and using the support players. Oscar scoring the next try with Mikey and Marc scoring one each to end the first-half 28 – 0 as both Callum and Will successfully kicked the conversions.
Rossendale came back into the second-half putting a sustained amount of pressure on the Bury defence who held firm, two more try’s from Oscar and a conversion completed the game. All the Bury players played exceptionally well with great team work throughout the game. The only downside was a back injury to one of the Bury players who had to go off the pitch, thanks must be given to the Rossendale coaching team/parents who assisted, thankfully the injury was only muscular and the player is now fine, just a little sore.
