A trip to Tyldesley beckoned for our last game of the season. Tyldesley have a terrific team with some U12 players as they don’t have a team at that age group, they came over to Bury earlier in the season and trounced us 35-0. With that in mind we expected a very tough morning’s work and that is exactly what we got. As usual we got a great reception from the Tyldesley coach Sam who refereed the match superbly.
The game got under way and Tyldesley put pressure on the Bury line and eventually scored in the corner. Tyldesley dominated possession in the early exchanges and it looked like we would be over-run, but the players had a different idea, they started to win ball in the forwards and put pressure on the Tyldesley defence, a good break from Will who scored in the corner, Callum successfully kicked the conversion.
The game continued to ebb and flow with both sides showing excellent commitment to win the ball, the battle in the forwards was evenly balanced. Bury’s defence was at its best and gave Tyldesley very little room. The match continued in this way, Tyldesley scoring 2 more try’s with Bury scoring through an excellent determined run from Mikey who had a super game at inside centre.
Without doubt this was Bury’s best performance of the season even though it resulted in a 21-14 loss. Well done everyone, Jonah won the Man-of-the-Match award for a wonderful robust performance. The boys also did a guard of honour for Anna who played her last game for the U11’s with a fully committed performance.
We then quickly enjoyed the Tyldesley hospitality and rushed off back to Bury for our afternoon’s presentation event.
